Elevate your chimney’s functionality and aesthetic appeal with our custom-fabricated Hip and Ridge Chimney Caps. Meticulously crafted to your specifications, these caps offer superior protection against weather elements while adding a touch of elegance to your home’s exterior. Our skilled craftsmen utilize premium materials such as copper, stainless steel, aluminum, or galvalume to ensure durability and longevity.

A – Select the approximate width and length (fields 3 and 4) to calculate the price of your chimney cap.

B – For chimney caps that are out of square, please refrain from placing an order directly. Instead, contact us for a customized quote. We may require a template or sketch for accuracy. Alternatively, square caps can be ordered, and shims can be used for installation on out-of-square chimneys.

C – If you have specific requests regarding the number of seams or width of panels, please submit a custom request for a quote. Avoid placing an order via this page for such requests, as our craftsmen will tailor the roof accordingly. Additional panels will incur extra costs.

D – Vertical reinforcements or divisions on the screen are added based on the discretion of our craftsmen. If you have specific preferences, kindly contact us before placing an order.

E – While installation is typically straightforward, we recommend professional installation for optimal results.

Top Mount:
A top mount chimney cap is the perfect solution for irregularly shaped chimneys, those with out-of-square corners, or constructed from materials like stone. It’s also preferred when a smaller cap is desired relative to the chimney’s size or for visual reasons, especially if the vertical side skirt of side mount caps isn’t desired. Typically, a top-mounted cap is soldered onto an existing chase cover or attached using tapcons, screws, anchors, or construction adhesive. When no chase cover is present, adhesive is commonly used for installation to avoid drilling through the chimney’s top, which would require waterproofing.

Side Mount:
A side mount chimney cap features a vertical mounting skirt that covers a portion of the chimney’s side, typically around 3.5 inches. This method offers comprehensive coverage, protecting the chimney against the elements. Like top mount caps, it can be secured with screws, masonry pins/anchors, or tapcons. However, unlike top mount caps, side mount caps are mounted from the side, drilling through the vertical side portion of the chimney cap base. Alternatively, they can be affixed using construction adhesive applied to the chimney’s top, although this method is less common.

In most scenarios, side mounting is the preferred choice for optimal chimney protection.

Common Material Options for Chimney Caps:

  • Copper (16 oz. and 20 oz.)
  • Pre Patina Copper
  • Freedom Gray (zinc/tin-coated copper) (16 oz. and 20 oz.)
  • Galvalume Plus (24 gauge)
  • Lead Coated Copper (16 oz. and 20 oz.)
  • Stainless Steel (24 gauge 304 2B)
  • Zinc (0.7 mm and 0.8 mm with a raw finish)

Additional colors, materials, and thicknesses may be available upon request.

When selecting a material for your chimney cap, consider the following options:

Copper: Our most popular choice, copper is durable, rust-resistant, and antimicrobial. It can be soldered or welded for easy repairs and develops a unique patina over time. Ideal for any environment.

Freedom Gray: Similar to copper but with a tin/zinc coating, Freedom Gray develops a mature slate gray patina after exposure to weather.

Lead Coated Copper: Copper dipped in lead, offering the same benefits as copper while preventing staining and remaining environmentally safe.

Stainless Steel: Provides durability and longevity but limited in color choices, typically featuring a mill finish (2B finish). Not recommended for coastal environments unless a marine-grade alloy (316) is used.

Zinc: A traditional option offering a classic look, though it’s more malleable and lighter than other materials. Can be ordered with various finishes but may not be suitable for all chimney cap configurations.

If color options are desired, consider Kynar Aluminum or Kynar Galvalume (Steel), both featuring coatings formulated to resist sun and weather damage. Kynar Galvalume offers similar colors to aluminum but with a more rigid substrate and heavier weight. However, it’s not recommended for coastal environments due to its steel base. Aluminum, on the other hand, offers the same color options as Kynar-coated Galvalume but is suitable for coastal areas due to its corrosion resistance and lighter weight.

Ultimately, your choice of material will depend on factors such as aesthetics, durability, and environmental conditions.
